Objective To investigate the effects of Jianpi Yishen Decoction combined with Tamsulosin on lower urinary tract symptoms and serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods 62 cases patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia admitted to Kunshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2019 to February 2021 were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 31 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were given Tamsulosin Hydrochloride sustained-release capsules, and the patients in the observation group were treated with Jianpi Yishen Decoction on the basis of the control group. The treatment period of the two groups was 3 months. The clinical efficacy of patients in the two groups after treatment, syndrome score of traditional Chinese medicine before and after treatment, international prostate symptom score (I-PSS), quality of life score (QOL), post-voiding residual (PVR), average flow rate (Qave), the maximum flow rate (Qmax), prostate volume, and serum TNF-α, IL-6, and PSA levels of patients in the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total clinical effective rate of patients in the observation group was 90.31%, which was higher than 67.74% in the control group; compared with before treatment, the syndrome scores of traditional Chinese medicine of dysuria, inability to discharge, nocturnal frequent urination, weak urinary line, chills and cold limbs, light tongue and greasy coating and I-PSS, QOL score, PVR,and serum TNF-α, IL-6, PSA levels decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group; compared with before treatment, the prostate volume of patients in the two groups reduced, and the observation group was smaller than the control group. After treatment, the Qave and Qmax of patients in the two groups were higher than before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion Jianpi Yishen Decoction combined with Tamsulosin can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, reduce the the prostate volume, improve the physiological function of the patients’ urinary system, thereby reducing the incidence of acute urinary retention, and at the same time can reduce the body's inflammatory factors and PSA levels, improve the quality of life of patients
