Objective To explore the effectiveness of Wenjing Tongluo Formula for internal use plus external bath in the prevention and treatment of peripheral neurotoxicity induced by Oxaliplatin chemotherapy, and to provide reference for reducing the occurrence of nerveinjury and peripheral neurotoxicity in chemotherapy patients. Methods 50 patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy after radical resection of colorectal cancer in Yixing Cancer Hospital from October 2020 to January 2022 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table, 25 patients in each group. Both groups of patients received XELOX regimen (Oxaliplatin, Capecitabine) chemotherapy, during this period, the patients in the control group received adjuvant treatment of warm bath for the limbs with warm water, while the patients in the observation group received Wenjing Tongluo Formula for internal use plus external bath, and both groups were treated for 21 days. The clinical efficacy and peripheral neurotoxicity after treatment, motor and sensory nerve conduction velocity, TCM syndrome score, European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Scale Core Questionnaire 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and physical condition (PS) score before and after treatment of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total clinical effective rate of patients in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the total incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity was lower than that in the control group; compared with those before treatment, the conduction velocity of median nerve, left common peroneal nerve and right common peroneal nerve of motor and sensory nerves of the patients in the two groups were faster after treatment, and the observation group was faster than the control group; after treatment, the EORTC QLQ-C30 scores of patients in both groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group; TCM syndrome score and PS score decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion Wenjing Tongluo Formula for internal use plus external bath can effectively improve the body function of tumor patients by taking orally and external bath, prevent and treat the nerve injury caused by Oxaliplatin induced peripheral neurotoxicity, reduce the peripheral neurotoxicity, improve the peripheral nerve conduction function of patients, thereby relieving their clinical symptoms and improving their quality of life.
